Welcome to the Silver Dragon Workshop! Where everything we do we believe will educate, enable, and inspire the crafting and maker community. All people have an ability to create and we hope to encourage everyone to explore their maker spirit.

We do this through easy to follow instructions and patterns, helpful reviews, technique explanation, and beautifully designed projects that combine crafting disciplines to inspire you to expand your skills and create functional works of art. We are inclusive of many different maker disciplines, but focus on those that create tangible, physical items.

Woodworking – involves crafting items from wood, including furniture, decor, and artistic pieces. This craft utilizes techniques such as carving, joinery, and finishing to shape and assemble wooden components into functional or decorative objects. It requires a good understanding of different wood types and the proper use of tools and finishes.

Metalworking – encompasses the shaping, cutting, and assembling of metal into various forms, from functional tools to artistic sculptures. It includes processes like welding, machining, and forging. Metalworking demands precision and knowledge of different metals and their properties to achieve desired results.

Blacksmithing is a traditional craft that involves heating and hammering metal, typically iron or steel, to create tools, hardware, and decorative items. The blacksmith shapes the metal using a forge, anvil, and hammer, mastering techniques like drawing out, bending, and twisting. This craft is known for its combination of strength and artistry.

Leatherworking – focuses on crafting items from leather, such as bags, belts, and accessories. It involves cutting, stitching, dyeing, and embossing leather, often incorporating decorative elements. Leatherworking requires an understanding of different types of leather and the skills to work with this versatile material.

Stained Glass – is the art of creating designs and images using pieces of colored glass, often assembled with lead cames or copper foil. This craft is commonly used for windows and panels, where the interplay of light and color creates stunning visual effects. Stained glass work involves precise cutting and fitting of glass pieces and a strong sense of design and color.

Stoneworking – is the craft of shaping, carving, and assembling stone into functional and decorative items. This ancient art involves techniques such as chiseling, grinding, and polishing to create structures, sculptures, and architectural elements. Stoneworkers often work with various types of stone, including marble, granite, and limestone, each requiring specific tools and methods to manipulate.

Ceramics – involves shaping and firing clay to produce pottery, sculptures, and other items. This craft often includes glazing techniques to add color and finish to the pieces. Ceramics require skill in forming clay, knowledge of firing processes, and an artistic eye for creating both functional and decorative works.

Jewelry Making – entails designing and crafting wearable art from metals, gemstones, and other materials. This craft involves techniques such as soldering, stone setting, and metalworking. Jewelry making requires precision, creativity, and an understanding of the materials used to create unique and expressive pieces.

CNC Machining – uses computer-controlled machines to cut, carve, and shape materials with high precision. It is used for creating parts, prototypes, and finished products in various industries. CNC machining demands technical knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and machine operations.

Casting – involves pouring molten material, such as metal, resin, or plaster, into molds to create detailed objects. This process is used in making everything from art pieces to industrial components. Casting requires an understanding of mold-making, the properties of casting materials, and the techniques to ensure high-quality results
